Evaluation of the Revised Disability Support Pension (DSP) Assessment Process

In March 2020, the Department of Social Services (DSS) appointed HOI to evaluate the Revised Disability Support Pension (DSP) Assessment Process. The evaluation aimed to review the effectiveness of additions to the revised DSP Assessment Process in achieving specified policy objectives and to identify the related impact the measures had on applicants. This consultancy built on the initial evaluation conducted by HOI in 2015, providing a more comprehensive picture of the effectiveness of the revised assessment process through: analysis of additional available data; consultation with a broader stakeholder base; and inclusion of a cost-effectiveness assessment.

HOI produced a comprehensive report for the Department, summarising findings and presenting 8 key recommendations to consider into the future, which is in the process of acceptance.
